FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, Sekou Alleyne, CEO of Global TT, represented the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) as a panellist at CANTO CONNECT 42nd AGM 2026, held at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain. Mr. Alleyne participated in the “FinTech Frontiers: Investing in the Caribbean’s Digital Economy” session, where he outlined opportunities across digital infrastructure, fintech, and applied digital solutions that can boost competitiveness, financial inclusion, and resilience in Caribbean economies.

Speaking on behalf of CAIPA’s President, Mr. Alleyne stressed that digital infrastructure and fintech are no longer niche topics but core elements of the region’s investment proposition. “If we want the Caribbean to operate as a serious, modern investment platform, then digital infrastructure and fintech cannot be optional - they are now part of the basic rails on which every other sector runs,” he said. “For CAIPA, focusing on this space means helping our member countries turn connectivity into real investment opportunities that support priority sectors for CAIPA including logistics, agribusiness, tourism and the blue economy.”

The intervention also showcased the growing strategic partnership between CAIPA and CANTO, which is framed by a formal Memorandum of Understanding that commits both organisations to joint promotion, project development, capacity building, and policy dialogue in the digital and telecommunications space. This collaboration aims to build a pipeline of bankable digital projects, support regulatory and policy reforms, and present a unified Caribbean digital investment brand to global investors, reinforcing the message that the region is ready to operate as a modern, connected investment platform.
