CAIPA: Your First Port of Call for Caribbean Investments
27 Aug 2026
The Caribbean offers attractive opportunities for individuals and businesses looking for growth, diversification, and access to expanding markets. Finding the right contact and accurate information can prove challenging, though, as this region comprises multiple countries, governments, and economies. The Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) is a consolidated economic development organization that can assist with the many logistical steps needed to start your journey to success.
Where can I find help with investment projects in the Caribbean?
The Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies, also known as CAIPA, exists to coordinate a network of 25 Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) in 24 Caribbean countries. Each agency can provide local expertise, site selection support, and facilitation services. CAIPA serves as the bridge between these agencies and the national and international investors who see the rich potential in this region.
CAIPA was established in 2007 to make investment opportunities more attainable and ensure the region continues on a path of economic growth, workforce development, and environmental responsibility.
Who does CAIPA serve?
CAIPA serves investors by acting as the initial point of contact between investors and the region's IPAs. There are currently 25 IPAs under the CAIPA umbrella. CAIPA also provides access to verified, investment-ready projects and helps investors connect with the right stakeholders to achieve their objectives.
The organization also serves members who are part of a collaborative effort to promote joint investment initiatives in the region and gain access to investment data, research, and sector intelligence. Member partnership with CAIPA also ensures participation in advanced dialogue on policy reform and business climate improvement, while directing support in developing investment strategies and promotion frameworks necessary for business and organizational success.
Most importantly, CAIPA serves the region by positioning the Caribbean as a coherent and competitive investment location. The initiatives and partnerships forged through CAIPA also strengthen the Caribbean investment profile as a coordinated platform for priority business sectors and expand engagement with other international institutions and private sector partners.
What high-growth investment opportunities exist in the Caribbean?
The Caribbean is often hailed for its unmatched beauty, but today, many investors are realizing that the region’s surging, sustainable economic growth is a valuable asset. The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has reported that foreign direct investment grew by 7.1% in 2024, reaching $190 billion. Investors were encouraged by the following advantages:
- Strategic market access to the Americas, Europe, and emerging trade corridors
- Stable financial and political systems supporting cross-border partnerships
- An educated, multilingual workforce
- 44 million residents and 35 million visitors annually
The following high-growth opportunities are strategically focused to improve resilience, foster sustainability, and diversify revenue streams in the region.
- Agribusiness Hope Research Group reports that in 2026, 60% of food will be imported into the Caribbean. With an increasing population, there is a clear and present opportunity for import substitution and food security initiatives, such as crop production, specialty foods, beverage production, and meat and poultry processing
- Renewable Energy Today, the region is harnessing abundant natural resources to achieve energy independence. Sources of renewable energy and investment opportunities include solar, wind, hydropower, and biomass.
- Logistics The Caribbean is a critical hub for global commerce in the Western Hemisphere, linking North America, South America, and Europe. Distinct high-growth investment opportunities exist in the following sectors: warehousing, distribution, water transportation, freight services, air cargo and logistics, as well as technology and automation.
